The story so far

Alex and Fiona first met in February 2016 when Alex joined the company Fiona had worked for since 2013. Used to seeing people coming and going, Fiona resisted the urge to get to know this interesting new starter until her friends orchestrated a high school-esque intervention to properly introduce the two. Fast forward a few months and the two were inseparable, both bringing out a new lease of life in each other.

It wasn't long before adventure was on the horizon and Alex and Fiona set out to spend a year in South Korea. It was fantastic timing, as Alex had been looking to return to the country where he had spent 2 semesters as a student, and Fiona was keen to explore teaching abroad following her degree in Education. In November 2016, they set off for Seoul and their first real adventure together began.

Their time in South Korea was both challenging and eye-opening. Teaching sister classes Tulip and Daisy, both spent most of their days with 4 year olds who knew little English - in the beginning at least! Teaching these classes was incredibly rewarding, and both look back on this time very fondly.

Of course, it wasn't all work and no play. Meeting some incredible people along the way, Alex and Fiona explored as much of Korea as they could, whilst also developing a certain fondness for baseball - go Doosan Bears!

December 2017 rolled around quicker than anyone expected, and it was time for the pair to return to the UK. Having decided not to return to their old jobs, the future was uncertain but the call to return home was strong. After a few weeks back at Alex's family home, they once again found themselves securing jobs at the same company and moving to an apartment in Shipley, Yorkshire overlooking the canal.

Setting back into life the UK, Alex and Fiona continued their love of the great outdoors and fully maximised their new proximity to the dales, camping and walking as much as possible - when the weather allowed!

They also visited Crete with Fiona's family, and had the wonderful experience of being witness to the engagement of Fiona's brother, Andrew to Toni.  A month later, they shared in the joy of Alex's Mum and Phil and at their beautiful, family-focussed wedding.

As the summer progressed, we all enjoyed the beautiful weather the UK was blessed with. Alex and Fiona paid a visit to Fiona's family in the Highlands and returned to Dornoch beach - a lifelong favourite destination and somewhere Alex had come to love too. And here, on 20th July, Alex asked Fiona to marry him. The answer was easy.

They moved into a house (with a garden, at last!) in October 2018, adopted a feline friend called Patch in March 2019 and this is where the story ends - for now!
